Paul Gill

It is with great sadness we have learnt of the passing away of Paul Gill in the early hours of this morning.

Paul Gill was a funny, charming man who conducted many ceremonies here on the Costa Del Sol and his sudden passing away will be a great loss to the wedding industry here.

Paul will leave many lovely memories to our couples whose ceremonies he beautifully conducted.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this very sad time.

If this affects your wedding arrangements please do get in touch with your wedding planner or directly with Paul´s son in law Richard Hoddes

An Extraordinary Wedding at the Marbella Club

After months of planning, at the beginning of June, Ingrid and Hugo treated their guests to the most extraordinary wedding weekend here in Marbella.

I knew from my second meeting with Ingrid, along with her friend, this was not going to be an ordinary wedding as we discussed balloons, stilt walkers, fire eaters and acrobatic entertainers :)

Together with Ingrid and Hugo we planned a fabulously fun weekend of dining and entertainment for their guests travelling in from abroad.

A pre wedding dinner hosted at the Gran Gatsby overlooking the famous Puerto Banus harbour started the weekend´s celebrations.

The wedding day was set in the iconic Marbella Club at the newly refurbished Villa Del Mar, a stunning setting and location.

Guests were greeted with stilt walkers and it is not often a bride is accompanied with a stilt walker and low flying model aircraft, it made a change from flower girls!

Hugo and Ingrid shared their meaningful ceremony by the fountain with their children and all were made to sign a wedding contract in the style of an old scroll.

White heart shaped balloons, decorated with flowers, were let off during the cocktail which was a stunning sight over Marbella!

The guests were then treated to an extraordinary evening of fine food and wines, live entertainment, fire eaters and some fabulous dancing.  We used a white and fresh green colour scheme for the florals, created by Virginia, and the garden of the Villa Del Mar was dressed with our famous fairy lights and candles creating a wonderful ambience for the guests to enjoy the evening´s entertainment and service.

The cake was based on a Dutch design Ingrid had sent us and white balloons with sparklers attached were let off during the evening into the night sky, I don´t think Marbella has seen so many balloons in one evening :)

The party continued the next day at the Trocadero Beach with their guests being treated to a wonderful beach lunch.  It was a fabulous weekend and one we loved planning and styling, well done to Carla for organising such a wonderful weekend and a big thank you to my team who all helped to put everything together and create such a fabulous party!

The photos are courtesy of Agata Jensen photography, we love them!

Our congratulations to Hugo and Ingrid and a thank you for letting us share such a special weekend with you, your family and friends.

Twilight Wedding at the Monasterio de San Martin, Sotogrande

ç

Stunningly gorgeous bride, cool funny groom and a wonderful family is what sums up this wedding for me.

We had such a lovely time working with Nikki and Martin and her parents to plan, organise and design their dream wedding here at the Monasterio de San Martin in Sotogrande.

It was a gloriously June day and finally after a very iffy May and beginning of June the weather looked better, we even had wind plan b in place before it finally died down and the famous Mediterranean sun was out in full force.  It was a strange start to the year weather wise.

The ceremony had been planned outside in the grounds of this beautiful venue but on the actual day of the wedding a swarm of flies had hatched and a quick plan b had to be made the night before to move everything around and cover the entire marquee with a mossie net.

It is the first and probably last time I have ever seen Carla up a step ladder and she did the most amazing job of covering the marquee, fab wedding planner reigned again!

The ceremony was moved inside and we all loved the final effect of this beautiful twilight style, candle lit ceremony, it was ideal and kept the guests cool.  I always bring extra decorations to weddings just in case and on this occasion it was candles, raiding a local beach for asparagus ferns and generally quick thinking.

The result I think was better and a wonderfully romantic ceremony was accompanied by a string quartet and Nikki radiated in her beautiful dress and gorgeous Spanish style veil.

I am still giggling at this image of a nervous waiting groom as Martin was such a cool and funny man and could not wait to marry Nikki, it was wonderful and happy days :)

Cocktails and canapes were served in the inner courtyard, which was not affected by the swarm out by the pool.  The guests were entertained with a fabulous band jazz style band and we set up a very cool Mojito bar with mason jars, paper straws and props.

We love the beautiful cake created by Sweet Things By Fi.

Afterwards the guests moved to the comfort of the by now mossie covered marquee and enjoyed a lovely dinner and reception.  We are still giggling at the stories of the speeches and the wonderful framed photo Nikki and Martin presented to her dad of the Father of the Bride poster.

Fly swarm gone and party underway in a beautifully decorated and lit venue with a Moroccan chill out, fabulous lighting courtesy of Nigel at Chez Vous Events, whom I call a Willy Wonka of parties, albeit he does not know this yet!

We are helping Nigel with his own wedding in a few weeks time and are very much looking forward to creating, styling and providing organisation for his wedding!

Fabulous details, signs, a jamon y queso table for later to keep guests going during the dancing and apparently, although not recorded, father of the bride jumping into the pool at 4.30am!

A wonderful day and year spent with a gorgeous and charming family who we hope to see and keep in contact with.

Our thanks to Andreas Holms for sending us such beautiful images telling the story of Nikki and Martin´s special day which we are delighted to share with you.
