Pretty Pastel Inspirations

Here in Spain spring arrived finally a few weeks ago and then disappeared again?!

After a gloriously warm week of Mediterranean spring sunshine the Spanish weather turned back into a rather gloomy, wet and windy week but finally I think we will be able to welcome the spring just in time for Easter.

Mimosa trees are becoming heavily laden with their fluffy bright yellow blooms which always remind me of those cute Easter chicks decorations and we have wild baby irises popping up which are one of my favourite flowers.

With all these beautiful colours taking hold as spring and Easter arrive we thought we would share some pastel inspirations and prettiness with you.

The Blush Crush for 2014 Weddings

The blush crush has steam rollered it´s way into our 2014 weddings on a grand scale so we thought we would share one of our blush inspired boards with you and some styling hints and tips.  It is such a dreamy romantic colour for weddings and we first noticed this colour creeping in at the end of 2011 to our weddings but now the big blush has taken over!

Having had a few design meetings recently it is interesting how this colour is such a delicate one to work with and there are so many variables of this colour from nude, ballet shoe pink, apricot, soft pink, oyster pink, peach, the list goes on but it is a difficult and delicate colour to get right.

Hold a blush fabric against a peach rose and it can instantly make the rose look more yellow in tone.  It is a good idea if you are using this colour for your wedding to check with your florist as to exactly what colours are being used in your bouquet and we recommend working with a pale colour spectrum including ivories, soft peaches, nudes and pinks to make sure it does not clash, keeping everything soft and muted and not using just one colour that could go wrong, either being too pink, peach or yellow.

You have to love the dreaminess of this colour and the blush mixed with soft golds is such an elegant and very fashionable combination for 2014.  We have thankfully sneaked in some gold glitter, sequins, and glassware into our wedding designs which we cannot wait to share with you!

Dreamy Teal Wedding Colour Inspirations from Elizabeth Anne Designs

Teal is such an understated, beautiful colour for weddings either toned down with cool mint greens for a sea glass colour palette or combined with rich jewel colours makes for a striking colour combination.

One of my favourite inspiration places is Elizabeth Anne Designs, currently on a teal crush, so had to share some of her beautiful inspiration boards with you as they are just too dreamy not to miss.

Blush Colour Inspiration for City Weddings in Spain

We adore the blush colour, it is such a pretty feminine pastel shade, not quite pale pink or peach, it is what we refer to as a ballet shoe colour.

Combined with touches of gold and a hint of black or navy oozes chic, style and romance.

This colour scheme would be perfect for a smart, city style black tie wedding in one of our fabulous Spanish cities such as Barcelona or Madrid.

I am dreaming of blackberries popped into sparkling pink cava, touches of gold glitter, lots of soft floaty blush ruffles contrasting with white starched shirts and black bow ties, heavenly roses set into gold and glass containers, beautiful blush macarons presented in black and ivory chanel style boxes as favours tied with black grosgrain ribbons and plenty of romantic candle light.

I have created two inspiration boards tonight with this gorgeous wedding colour to share with you so I hope you enjoy them and they inspire you.

A Spanish Flag Wedding Colour Inspiration, Passionate Reds and Marigold Yellows

Tonight I have been playing around with the colours of the Spanish flag using the deep passionate reds combined with the sunny marigold hues and designing ideas on how to translate this colour combo into a wedding as it is really quite a harsh colour scheme but executed properly would be fabulous and we love doing fabulous!

Spain is so evocative of these colours, from their red and yellow flag to the colours of the famous sangria all provides a wonderful Spanish colour scheme to use as a base for your wedding or party.

There are so many fun elements drawn from the Spanish culture that we have incorporated into our previous wedding designs, from the use of the black Osborne bull as a vehicle to create place cards and table seating plans to Spanish lace fans and Sevillian oranges and sunflowers, really the list is endless which is rather exciting as I am constantly drawing on Spanish culture to translate into ideas for our weddings and am spoilt for choice.

Reviva Weddings have not only absorbed the Spanish culture into our weddings but have also now expanded across Spain.

We will be announcing our exciting news this week as we pop up officially in all the major cities around Spain including Barcelona, Madrid and Seville.

A Soft Yellow Colour Palette for Weddings

Spring has sprung I hope finally here in Southern Spain.

Our weather prediction has a big yellow thing in the sky tomorrow so fingers crossed after two months of what seems like eternal rain our famous Mediterranean summer is just around the corner!

Here at Reviva we have been looking at lots of colour trends and yellows are currently predominant along with purples being featured in many spring inspirations so we thought we would create an inspiration board using this beautiful buttery hue, a colour that works well with pinks and golds as well as lilacs and soft blues.

We are also designing some desert tables and love this one featured on Amy Atlas along with some fabulous images found on Pinterest.

Spanish Inspiration Board for Weddings in Spain

I shared this fabulous inspiration board yesterday on Reviva´s Facebook page but had to post this gorgeous board from Camille Styles on the Blog too in case any of our readers and followers are not connected to us on Facebook.

For me this gorgeous board has so many Spanish overtones, there is something rather dramatic about it which of course is evocative of our Andalucian flamenco drama that I adore and I love the combination of navy with the reds and dark pinks mixed with golds, it has my design brain ticking!

Do hop over and like our Facebook page we are always sharing fab ideas, inspirations and colour boards.

Norwegian Weddings in Marbella

Our wonderful Mediterranean climate and food combined with the laid back, relaxed Spanish lifestyle proves the perfect getaway for many Northern Europeans escaping colder climates and wishing to enjoy some relaxed sunshine time.

So where better than to host a wonderfully warm celebration with close family and friends than here in Andalucia.  Many of our clients are from the northern hemispheres of Europe including Norway, Holland, Sweden and Belgium, and we love the relaxed nature and disposition of our Northern European clients, and I adore their style!

It is beautifully simple yet elegant and no fuss is anywhere to be seen!  I do follow a lot of fabulous Norwegian and Swedish design blogs, albeit I cannot understand them but I so love their understated decoration and google translate helps :)

We have been planning and designing a gorgeous wedding for a charming couple from Norway and their special day starts with a beautiful ceremony at our local Norwegian church followed by an intimate reception at a nearby villa with their family, children and close friends.

I thought I would share some of the inspiration boards created as we have worked on the wedding details using predominantly whites, fresh greens, soft peaches and adding in touches of lavender.

These are working boards assembled for Lolita as we have designed the wedding style and we are so excited about creating a beautiful tablescape, a desert, fruits and nuts bar, a cooling lemonade station and creating stylish tiny details such as decorating the napkins with sprigs of lavender and personalised placecards.

It will be a beautiful wedding celebrated with their close family and friends and of course we will share our photos with you throughout the year of our weddings we plan, create and style.

Designing and Inspiration Boards

Design is creating a space, a product or a function with harmony, balance and style.

Whether you are designing your home, a wedding, a work space or a product there are basic principles applied to make it work plus of course an eye for balance and style.

One thing I find always works is to gather various collected elements together to create an inspiration board and tonight I created this with some photos I have pinned on my interiors file on Pinterest.

Working on a design project is always exciting whether it be a re-decoration of a room or the design of your wedding, party or event.

It is always a good idea to gather the colours, images and swatches together and you will quickly see a cohesive look and colours leaping out at you.

This time of year I am updating my own living spaces and as an interior designer and stylist I apply my own principles to my own home and thought it would be interesting to gather the images I have collected over the past few months, of interior spaces, together on one board.

It appears now I have to go out and buy lots of mint green and soft turquoise paints!

With storms predicted here in southern Spain tomorrow this actually sounds like a good plan.

Glamour and Sparkle Wedding Inspiration

Who does not love a bit of glamour and sparkle, thrown in with a few diamonds of course!

We are busy here working away on ideas and inspirations for our 2013 weddings and gradually compiling mood and colour boards for our clients.

This involves weeks of looking for that one inspiration to set the next train of thought off and scanning hundreds or actually probably thousands of images as we put together designs and ideas.

My problem at the moment as we lead into the festive season is I keep being distracted by glitter and diamonds ;)

One fabulous blog I have found is Zsa Zsa Bellagio, if you are in need of some stylish inspirations or just wish to spend an hour looking at glamorous images this is the place to head over too.  Be prewarned you could be on this blog for much longer than an hour :)!

Indian Wedding Inspirations in Marbella

As Indian Weddings take Marbella by storm, we thought we would share some of the inspirations we are creating for our weddings.

The explosion of colours used for Indian weddings are glorious and here we have created a more cohesive look to our weddings by keeping to a heady mix of beautiful colours.

Ivory, gold and red are a hugely popular colour combination, mix this in with a fushsia and yellow and a dash of purple creates a vibrant combination.

We have kept one of our designs to just using a peacock colour theme of purples, turquoises, aquas and golds but throwing in a touch of orange for the reception tables.

There are so many glorious details from floral elephants, embellished gold confetti cones, lots of lots of bling, particuarly this year with the latest rage for metallic wedding cakes and we love the idea of using slightly different textures and fabrics to bring different elements into creating our Indian wedding styles.

Spanish Burgundy Wedding Inspiration

I have been working on some wedding inspirations this weekend for one of our Sotogrande weddings next year. Our brief is burgundy, whites and a touch of silver with a destination wedding theme possibly incorporating maps of Spain and red wines.

The wedding will be held at a stunning monastery in Sotogrande which requires very minimal stylish decorations and for this particular venue a chill out area on the terrace is always lovely for the dancing later.

With the burgundy (red wine) colour mixed with whites, the two colours combined can be quite harsh so we have mixed in a sahara rose and some pale pinks which will soften and lift the colour combination.

Burgundy is a fabulous colour for a Spanish styled wedding, and combined with a dramatic black is truly stunning and brings the drama of Andalucian flamenco to the overall look and style. Not too much black though, we loved Sarah´s wedding this year using a black etching of a flamenco dancer.

Here we have created an inspiration board for one of our clients and used this flamenco graphic that was beautifully reproduced onto a stunning wedding cake by Fi and onto the stationery from Anoulka.

The combination of the deep burgundy with the ivories, very soft pinks and tea colours is a fabulous colour scheme.

To compliment the destination map idea we have suggested to run this through the wedding with the stationery details, perhaps confetti cones made out of maps of Spain, table seating and luggage tags and white suitcases. The design has only just been sent off but of course is still buzzing around in my design brain and yet to cover the red wine element!

This is where I start to wish time away as we create and design some fabulous weddings that I cannot wait to put together!

Back to glitter and Christmas this week, but we do like to share our wedding inspirations and designs with you as we sit here creating for 2012.

We would like to credit Sweet Things By Fi for this stunning flamenco cake and Jeremy Standley for the photography, without these fabulous photos we could not showcase our work as we do. The inspiration board was created by me using photos from pinterest and our own weddings.

More Watercolour Inspirations for Weddings

We thought we would share another of our creative boards this morning, to brighten up a fairly grey day in Marbella!

The two inspirations behind this wedding design are a beautiful watercolour by Charlotte Cox which for me is evocative of Spain, and this gorgeous photo of almond blossoms that fill the countryside here in early Spring.
I love this photo, it was taken by Anna Gadza, one of our very talented photographers here we work with.

The colour combination is a sage green, lots of whites and pale dusty pinks, you could even add in a pale teal and greys and perhaps as I am in a glitter mood, a hint of silver.

I have also noticed a big trend back to using gypsophila (baby breath) for wedding flowers, it is pretty I think just on it´s own for bouquets or centrepieces or combine this with white and pale pink peonies for a truly romantic wedding scheme.

All the images in this board were found on Pinterest.

Designing New Wedding Office Spaces for Women

I am currently designing a new wedding office space :)

Not for me, but for a good friend of mine, Heather at Fiestasol. I am hugely excited about this new venture that Heather has created and more will be revealed over the next few months as we lead up to the opening of Heather and Alex's new venture.

It probably sounds strange that one wedding planning company is designing another wedding planning company's office space, but as we all work together in wedding world, good friendships are formed, despite what people might like to think that we all run head to head we don't!! (Well some choose to but that is their choice!)

We work together all the time, I run a very design led wedding planning company that tends to specialise in the high end weddings and event and floral decoration and Heather runs a very successful catering and food led wedding planning company that excels in villa weddings.

We often book each other to fill in the gaps, we all work together with the same highly professional tried and tested suppliers and are like a little family. We swops notes, exchange wedding world gossip, chat about being working mums, and we do truly believe that it is better to work like this as we have forged a very strong network of lovely suppliers and can of course offer a very high standard of service for weddings and events between us and support each other.

It is interesting researching a very girly design led working space and ideas for Heather and I was fascinated to find out that Lynne Franks has created the BHive business club for women, offering beautifully designed feminine office spaces for Britain's brightest business women who want somewhere creative and inspirational to work in and bring clients too.

Forget the dark woods and libraries with leather chairs, we are going white, crystals, flowers, fabulous fabrics, cushions and comfortable bright working and meeting spaces.

Today I created our first mood board for this concept of creating a wedding led office space, to work in, to see clients in and to hold food tasting and decoration presentations in.
There will be much more research and planning as I help Heather put together her dream so of course we will keep you updated on progress and will inform you as soon as Heather announces her opening or any more news on this very exciting project.
Wedding World will be very much on the map in Marbella by the summer!

An Ice Blue and Coral Mood Board

Again the coral tones for a wedding this time combined with an ice blue, we did create this board for one of our lovely clients getting married here in June, but we are also considering this colour combo for our photo shoot with the gorgeous white peonies, creating these fabulous tassle garlands that will be the rage this year for garden settings and loving the slightly rustic feel to this style.
Images courtesty of Martha Stewart and Reviva

If you like this colour combination and wish us to recreate this for our fabulous photo shoot, let us know!

A Mango Mood Board

I had a great dilemma with Mango last year, it is a difficult colour to translate and even harder to find the perfect shade, some are very pink and others are more peachy in tones.
It is a hugely popular colour still for weddings this year and combined with black, silver, white, teal blue or even a hot magenta it is a stunning colour to work with.
Another idea for our Spring photo shoot, so please cast your vote on your favourite colours you wish to see us use.
Again a thank you to Wolf and Whistle for some of the images within this inspiration board.

A Sorbet Colour Palette

A stunning combination of colours for 2011 wedding colours is the kaleidoscope of soft sorbet colours, champagne, cornflower, lemon, watermelon, raspberry and peppermint, all divine romantic colours and all good enough to eat :)
Think of hot Mediterreanean summers with these cooling pastel colours and the endless possibilities of creating icecream and cocktail bars or even serving iced yoghurts such as Snogs, which apparently Kate Middleton has requested for her wedding.
This mood board was created as we are currently planning a spring photo shoot here with some of the most talented, artistic suppliers involved, so lots excitement and a fair amount of brain storming to be done over the next month for our favorite colour combos.
Please do leave us comments as we post our colour inspiration boards to vote for your favourite one, we would love to know the most popular colour scheme our readers would like to see us feature for our Spring photo shoot here in the charming countryside of Andalucia.
I would like to thank Wolf and Willow for many of these gorgeous images on this board, I have spent hours on their blog tonight being truly inspired :)

Country Valentine Inspirations

As we get ready for the romantic Valentine's day, I have been searching again for some beautiful inspirations and was delighted to find this fabulous blog, Postcards and Pretties.
I adore this Valentine inspiration board complete with the macaroons, gorgeously understated and being a packaging and twine lover this is perfect for some Sunday inspiration.
So refreshing without the red and pink bling we see everywhere this time of year.
I wanted to find something different as I was getting quite frustrated at finding nothing to feed my creative quest at the moment and this blog has just done this for me, introducing all sorts of ideas, new talents and inspirations so that is my Sunday afternoon taken care of now!
