Beautiful Vintage Style Chairs for Weddings

When I design weddings I love the different styles we can apply according to the clients and the array of venues we work with.

Villa Padierna, here in Marbella, is famous for Michelle Obama visting and reminds me of a Vegas style Italian themed hotel, lots of marble, fountains and statues that we are forever covering up at weddings! and a very grand, elegant feel to the whole venue.

This weekend we worked very hard to create a beautiful wedding for Rebecca and John, a delightful and charming couple that we had the pleasure of designing their wedding for.

Rebecca, for me, was a challenge, she had a very elegant refined taste that took time for me to know exactly what she wanted and after a few meetings I finally narrowed her down to what she wanted to achieve for her day.

To sum it up it was to be a beautifully, elegant contemporary style wedding but with a vintage, spanish twist using lace and she wanted a huge amount of candle light :)

We kept the design to a stunning ivory and lace theme using lots of different height cylilnder glassware and ivory candles to create a mass in the centre of each table.

The venue was dressed with our fairy lights, candles on the steps, and lanterns surrounding the Linares terrace area.

The highlight for me with Rebecca and John´s wedding was our new gorgeous chair dressing with ivory covers, gorgeous vintage lace chair sashes finished off with some gorgeous hugely sparkly diamante vintage brooches :)

The final result looked stunning and we were thrilled.

We had to just share a chair with you but hopefully we will have all the photos to blog soon as this wedding was so stylish, elegant and beautiful :)

New Ruche Pastel Wedding Collection

We felt this was too exciting not to share and thanks to Green Wedding Shoes for introducing Ruche's new wedding collection which is being launched on the 19th March.

We are already an avid fan of their clothes and accessories and are delighted that Ruche are now creating vintage, feminine wedding and bridesmaids dresses with a focus on embroidery and intricate detailing.

We are in love the pastels and neutrals, a huge fashion statement this year mixed with metallics and even more amazing are the prices with wedding dresses below $500 and bridesmaids retailing at around $100.

All brides must pop over and take a sneak peek at Green Wedding Shoes and in the meantime we have about 4 more sleeps until this gorgeous new collection is launched.

I have no doubt we will see many more gorgeous photos and will share these with you.

A Romantic Tuscany Wedding

I have spent a lovely evening with my eldest daughter surfing ideas and inspirations as I am trying to impart some of my knowledge in the hope she will find her feet with what she is truly inspired to do. She is a very talented young lady with a huge amount of enthusiasm and will find her vocation soon but I hope I inspire her in the meantime!
Having settled on the fabulous Elizabeth Anne Designs and finally stopped hyperventilating over these gorgeous images, I have to share these with you of this beautiful wedding in Tuscany.

I love the chandeliers hanging from the trees, the vintage crockery, the little details such as the Bride sign on the back of the chair, the whole wedding has been beautifully designed and styled, to see more of this gorgeous wedding click on the link above to be truly inspired with romantic details.

Fabulous Florals

We just love the fabulous florals that are still taking one of the top slots in wedding styling, and were thrilled to find this image on The City Sage.
It showcases the decadence of the hugely popular floral style that is still taking the fashion and interior worlds by storm.
We cannot wait to see our latest photo shoot of a Cath Kidston style centrepiece and cake and now have these two fabulous accessories coming to our shop soon.

Check out our floral card cake stand at just 14 euros, easy and quick to assemble and ideal for garden style weddings or vintage tea parties to pop your fairy cakes on.
Flat packed and easily transportable, saving you the hassle of hiring or buying a china piece and worrying about it breaking.
We adore these beautiful vintage style teacup candles at 15 euros each, a gorgeous and unique gift for your girlfriends, set them out on your tables to complete that fabulous vintage style. They come in a selection of sherbet colours and can be washed once the candle has finished and used as a normal teacup.
Both these items will be available in our shop next week.

What is a Vintage Wedding?

Ok so I have many brides saying they want a vintage styled wedding but what does this really mean?

When approaching your wedding design much thought needs to be given to exactly what vintage means to you, this will certainly help your wedding stylist/planner pull together elements for your wedding to be in theme, from the initial save the date cards, to the design, decoration, music and cars.

The past century has been a wild ride with changes in every decade.

Starting with the Victorian era, garden tea party style, lace, parasols, big blooms, peonies, large tea roses, cameos, delicate crystal and pearl details and vintage look invitations are all definitely the key for this era.

Then we hit the roaring 20's, The Great Gatsby, sleek satin dresses, headbands, feathers, long pearl necklaces and of course speakeasies, champagne fountains, teacups, and Charleston.

The Art Deco 30's and Big Band 40's styles, Hollywood Glamour, long sleek dresses with shoulder pads, hats with small veils, newspapers, letters and bunting all evocative of the wartime glamour.

Then we move onto the more funky, retro style from the 50's and 60's Audrey Hepburn, beehives, rock and roll, jiving, big skirts and pumps, retro candy and cinemas. Funky floral fabrics Cath Kidston style, cherries, homemade lemonades and ginger beers, alcopops

Finishing off the list of decades for vintage wedding trends is the hippy chick flower power, from the late 60's and 70's, Mamma Mia style weddings with long floating dresses, loose hair styles decorated with flowers, beach sandals, camper vans, peace and love, flower fairies and of course plenty of ribbons.

This currently is where is stops, we have not been asked to do the late seventies disco or the big shoulder pads of the 80's along with Filofax favours as yet! I have no doubt this time next year I will be designing white flares, medallions, disco balls, and listening to the Bee Gees, who I love in anycase!

Wedding at Puente Romano

We love this venue, it is such a fabulous Spanish setting, so Andalucian.
Here we have yet again my snapshots from the day, and am promised more wonderful photos to come from the photographer :)
A beautiful vintage style bouquet, the wonderful scene for the ceremony and of course the fabulous Patio at Puente Romano set out for this wedding, with our table centrepieces and crystals supplied by the bride, simple & elegant within such beautiful surroundings.

More weddings to come from this weekend as our birdcages went up to Granada and we created two more weddings, one was a lovely soft pink wedding we sent up to the hills behind Malaga and the other to Nerja! We have been promised the photos :)

Vintage Wizard of Oz style wedding

Whilst searching for Wizard of Oz ideas for weddings I came across this lovely wedding, it has some of the elements of a Wizard of Oz theme and perhaps a cherry theme, still working on it but wanted to share these lovely images with you. Unfortunately I have not kept the details of where I found these so if you are the owner please let me know so I can add details to this post.

I love the crisp, clean look of this idyllic wedding in Scotland found on Sugar Blossom Weddings. The clever use of the modern style mixed with the vintage is perfectly done, with lots of thoughtful details. The bride gave out personalised tea towels as wedding favours, which I thought was a lovely idea as I always keep tea towels. However the last one I got was a prize for my middle daughter for her recycling artwork from the local council so it was not that pretty and she was not impressed!

Sweet and treat tables for weddings

I have created some sweet and treat tables this year for some weddings and have some to create for some of my weddings in 2009 so am constantly looking for inspiration for creating these wonderful, decadent displays. I fell in love with this fabulous french style table with the feather displays and the colours found on {casando ideias}. The matching wallpaper helps!
